EAJ-PNB draws nationalist votes in Iparralde
Yesterday (Sunday) saw the first round of voting in the French regional elections. The pro-nationalist Basque parties in Iparralde stood separately. With the ballots now counted, it can be confirmed that most votes went to the Basque Nationalist Party (EAJ-PNB). With more than 7.000 votes, it finished ahead of the coalition formed by Abertzaleen Batasuna and Batasuna.

The position of EAJ-PNV in regard to the humanitarian disaster in Chile
EAJ-PNV wishes to convey its heartfelt condolences for the tragic loss of so many human lives and its sympathy for the hundreds of thousands of people left homeless by the dreadful catastrophe that has struck whole regions of Chile.

Urkullu: “We propose a reform of the current framework to include the principle of the authority to decide”
Iñigo Urkullu, Chairman of the EBB (Governing Council) of the Basque Nationalist Party (EAJ-PNV), speaking to a large audience at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre this morning, asserted that "we are abertzales ("patriots"). This is the land to which we belong, and it has been for 10,000 years. It was in 1936 and it is now. We have no home but this. Nor do we depend on anyone else. Nor do we have any aspiration other than our people". At the meeting he defined the strategic lines that the party is to follow in the coming months, and paid tribute to all those who have held public office in representation of the party over the past 30 years.

Following the death of Orlando Zapata Tamayo
Following the death Cuban prisoner of conscience Orlando Zapata Tamayo, EAJ-PNV wishes to express:
1.- Its consternation at the death of opposition member Orlando Zapata Tamayo after 85 days on hunger strike. The Cuban government cannot elude its responsibility for this avoidable death. In this time of grief our condolence and solidarity go out first and foremost to the family of the deceased.

Iberdrola and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia sign a protocol agreement in order to develop a power supply system for electric cars
The Provincial Council of Bizkaia and Iberdrola have signed a collaboration agreement in order to stimulate, from the headquarters of the Automotive Intelligence Centre, AIC., the achievement of a charging system and network of charging stations for electric cars. After getting giants of the industry, such as Mercedes and Toyota, to develop and research this technology at Boroa, now it is the turn of the other significant pillar in this project, the enterprises which provide the energy for ecological vehicles. The circle is almost closed and it is composed by solid pieces which are a guarantee for success.

The Provincial Council of Bizkaia hands Doctors of the World and UNICEF 140.000 euros for emergency projects
Today the Provincial Council of Bizkaia approved, through Govern Council, a total of 140.000 euros as aid for Haití following the earthquake which devastated this Caribbean country last week. This aid shall be given to Doctors of the World and UNICEF as a direct grant-in-aid in order to carry out emergency projects.

Ariztondo: “ La concentración busca un mensaje de concordia, de paz, de esperanza, de unión ciudadana”
Centenares de personas han participado en la concentración que, bajo el lema “Muévete por la paz”, ha convocado hoy la Diócesis de Bilbao en la plaza de Santiago. La secretaria del EBB, Josune Ariztondo, ha manifestado que la concentración “busca un mensaje de concordia, de paz, de esperanza, de unión ciudadana, en un momento de incertidumbre tras la ruptura del proceso”.
