Speaking today at Baluarte de Iruña (Pamplona's Congress Centre), the EAJ-PNV EBB Chairman, Iñigo Urkullu, pointed out "that today is the 35th anniversary of Franco's death. The beginning of a new era. A dream for our People. We are now able to again dream that no-one will never again kill anyone as the result of senseless terror, which is what we demand. We have a new opportunity for a new era. A Basque Country without ETA. What we have dreamt of.

Iñigo Urkullu, Chair of the Governing Council of the Basque National Party (EAJ-PNV) has been appointed Vice-President of the European Democratic Party. His official appointment took place at the Extraordinary Congress of the EDP in Brussels, where the political proposals of the democratic alliance were also approved.

EAJ-PNV calls in Brussels for aid for peace when conditions are right for the process to begin

The President of the Governing Council of the Basque National Party (EAJ-PNV) seized the opportunity of the day set aside to commemorate the victims of terrorism to hold an interview in Brussels with the European Commissioner for Home Affairs. Iñigo Urkullu called for European aid packages for the peace process in the Basque Country similar to those granted to Ireland under the "Peace" programme, when conditions are right. The aid called for ranges from programmes to reinforce care for victims and education for peace to the rehabilitation of criminals linked with terrorist offences.

The EAJ-PNV EEB Chairman, Iñigo Urkullu, took part in the "New Economic Policies for Employment" workshop at the Biarritz Forum, where he pointed out that "self-government must be the structural base for the new employment policies". He stressed that he was convinced that "creating jobs is the most important challenge facing our companies".

Urdaibai takes the San Miguel League and the Bandera de La Concha
Historic victory by Urdaibai took the Bandera de La Concha for Bermeo for the first time. The "Bou Bizkaia", that was second in the final honour board behind Orio, won the creme de la creme of the races when it came in 13 seconds ahead of Kaiku which faltered in the last stretch and ended third.

The Basque Country returns to growth
At the official reception to mark San Ignacio's Feast Day held at the Provincial Council building, José Luis Bilbao, the Chairman of Bizkaia Provincial Council, stressed that "we were the last to be hit by the economic crisis and we had to be the first to recover. Today, I am more optimistic than yesterday and I am convinced that we are going to be the first in our zone to come out of the crisis".
