Andoni Luis Aduriz elected the world‘s best chef
The influential British magazine Restaurant announced in London the list of the 50 best restaurants in the world, considered the Oscars of haut cuisine. El Celler (Gerona, Can Roca) was widely tipped to dislodge René Redzepi‘s Noma from first place. However, the Catalan‘s restaurant was once again voted the second best in the world while the Dane continued in first pace for the third year running.

Urkullu: “To change the world you must start with yourself”
This morning the Basque National Party (EAJ-BNP) held an open day to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the opening of its Sabin Etxea headquarters in Bilbao. It was in 1992 that the new Party headquarters came into service: Sabin Etxea stands on a site formerly occupied by the house where Sabino Arana, founder of Basque nationalism, was born. EAJ-BNP took advantage of the celebration to present its new brand logo. In the words of Iñigo Urkullu, Chairman of the Governing Council (EBB) “the Basque National Party welcomes this new era with three commitments: openness, heart and agreement”.

Itxako crushes Bera Bera in Cup Final
The Itxako women’s handball team from Estella, Navarra won its third Queen’s Cup in Altea by hammering Bera Bera 35-26 in the final. They were always ahead on the scoreboard, but Bera Bera put up a good fight and it was not until the last few minutes of the first half that they opened up a real gap. Alexandra Barbosa was their star player, scoring 11 goals.

All Three Basque ACB Teams still in with Chance of Winning League
Baskonia-Caja Laboral, Gescrap Bizkaia and Lagun Aro GBC all still have their options open for finishing among the top eight in the ACB basketball league, which would take them into the play-offs for the title. With 5 matches to go before the first part of the season comes to an end, all three Basque teams have reasons to be optimistic: if they keep up the good work one of our teams could be in with a chance of being the best in the ACB.

During the 80th Aberri Eguna, the Day of the Basque Homeland, which the Basque National Party marked today in a packed Plaza Nueva square in Bilbao, the EAJ-BNP Euzkadi Buru Batzar Chairman stressed that “it is not the right moment to waste time or for daring experiments. This country needs to regain trust in its managers. It needs to set its course. Put one foot in front of the other to return to the path of progress. And we believe progress to be national construction. Building the Basque Country will help our companies to find new markets in the world".

Egibar says that the debate opens up “a window to dialogue”
The spokesperson of the Euzko Abertzaleak-Basque National Group in the Basque Parliament, Joseba Egibar, has defended the debate on peace and coexistence in the Chamber as it opens up “a window to dialogue" and, otherwise "it would be difficult for us to share anything”. After stressing that “all the safeguards must be put in place to ensure dialogue” and that "nobody is excluded", he pointed out that "peace will be peace if it is ours", not if it "is individual".
