Crisis in the government of Nafarroa
A further resignation from the government of Nafarroa (Navarre) has deepened the crisis in Barcina’s cabinet, following the departure of three socialist party members. Now, the second deputy first minister responsible for the Economy and Treasury in the Government of Navarre, the regionalist Álvaro Miranda, has announced his decision to step down, which he believes may help to reduce the tension between the Union of the People of Navarre (UPN) and the regional socialist party (PSN) in the wake of the collapse of the coalition government.

Aimar Olaizola wins his third txapela in the hand version of Basque pelota
Aimar Olaizola has beaten Juan Martínez de Irujo in the final of Manomanista 2012, the championship for Basque pelota played with bare hands. The pelotari, or pelota player, from Goizueta has played a stunning final against the front-court player from Aspe and has been crowned with his third txapela, or Basque beret, in the Manomanista championship. Olaizola II hardly put a foot wrong in the final and ended up running rings around Martínez de Irujo, who could do nothing to raise his game. After winning the championship in 2005 and 2007, this front-court player from Navarre has won his third Manomanista title against one of his fiercest rivals.

The bed that makes itself is Basque
“Ohea” may be seen as either the height of laziness or a dream come true. Yet for its designer, Ascencio Zubeldia Jáuregui, from Gipuzkoa and aged 56, it is a wish fulfilled. The self-making bed carries the label Made in Villabona. It’s not that the people of Gipuzkoa don’t know how to make a bed, but rather that Zubeldia thought it was a good idea to end the daily chore of struggling with sheets and duvets. "This bed is my hobby after slaving away at my lathe for ten hours every day", he declared.
