A French Basque Country community moves closer
The creation of a Basque community in France that encompasses the towns in the French Basque Country is now closer, after the promoters managed to meet the two requirements required by the government in Paris: that the initiative attracts the support of at least half of the 158 towns in Labourd, Lower Navarre and Soule, and that these represent at least half of its 295,933 inhabitants. The requirement as regards population had already been met, as had the number of towns after the voting at Ayherre, Bardos, Tardets, Arrast-Larrebieu, Pagolle, Villefranque, Charritte-de-Bas and Boucau. With the exception of the last, all were in favour. As a result, everything points to the fact that for the first time the French Basque Country will have its own institution in France.

This idea, which evolved over 9 months and was carried out thanks to the collaboration and management of APTCE, has brought together two symbols that marked the history of the 20th century, Gernika and Auschwitz.
