Spokespersons of the Greens argued for the proposal as part of the gathering and uniting forces and approaches to support peace within the common European framework, as their spokesperson, Christiane Filius-Jehne, explained. Founded on 13 March 1877, the oldest functioning Basque Centre of the Diaspora is celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2017. On its way to marking a century and half of existence, the traditional euskal etxea porteña has been home and venue to countless Basque activities and event and everything points to it continuing to be so, as the current committee, chaired by Arantxa Anitua, the first woman president of the Laurak, is highly committed to the present and future of the institution.

Society, satisfied with the Basque Government after its first 100 days
Basque society is satisfied with the Basque Government's work in its first 100 days, according to the latest EiTB Focus, the Euskal Irrati Telebista survey on the current political and social climate. The study, conducted by Gizaker, indicates that 71.3% of the population endorses the management of the autonomous government.

EU deploys Election Observation Mission to Timor-Leste
The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and vice-President of the European commission, Federica Mogherini, has today appointed Izaskun Bilbao Barandica as Head of the European Union Electoral Observation Mission for the Parliamentary and presidential elections in East Timor. The elections will be held on 20 March and 8 July. The European Member of Parliament jeltzale will thus be responsible for coordinating the work and officially communicating the results of the observation process, focusing on support for a transparent and credible process in the country.

GDP growth in 2016 slightly exceeded forecasts by the Department of Finance and the Economy of the Basque Government
The gross domestic product (GDP) generated by the Basque economy in the fourth quarter of 2016 grew 0.6% compared to that generated in the third quarter of the year, matching the pace of the previous period. This sustained quarterly growth also points to significant progress in the GDP in the coming quarters.
