The UN recognises the Valle Salado as a World Agricultural Heritage Site
The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations has designated the Agricultural System of Valle Salado de Añana a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System in Europe.

The Evaluation Committee visited this enclave in Alava to verify for themselves the candidature presented by the Valle Salado Foundation and Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and the Environment. This is the first agricultural system in Europe to receive this accolade.
