EAJ-PNV sees it as being "unacceptable" to prosecute the Catalan referendum

Representatives of the Basque Nationalist Party and EHBildu joined gatherings organised by Gure Esku Dago in Bilbao, San Sebastian, Vitoria and Pamplona to express their support for the Catalan political officials who have been tried for the 9-N pro-independence reference. A thousand people supported the events held in the four capitals of the southern Basque Country to launch a united message. "The future of the people is decided at the ballot box and not in the courts," they proclaimed, on a day on which they reminded everyone that the former President of the Generalitat, Artur Mas, and the ex-ministers Joana Ortega and Irene Rigau, are sitting in the dock only for having given a "channel to the democratic mandate" of the people of Catalonia.
