ETB ceases broadcasting in Navarre to prevent its equipment and facilities from being sealed

As reported by the public body in a statement, the Secretary of State, "after initiating two separate disciplinary proceedings against EITB and ITELAZPI for broadcasting Basque autonomous television programmes in the Autonomous Community of Navarre, has requested the appearance of the staff of these companies next week to seal the equipment and facilities".

The general management of EITB stated that "because of the seriousness of the facts and the new measures taken by the Ministry, it would be not possible to avoid the consequences that could befall the aforementioned companies, without immediately ceasing broadcasting”. The general management of EITB believes that this ministerial action "breaks the principle of peaceful occupation of radio space that had been preserved for more than twenty years and that has guided all of ETB’s broadcasting activities in Navarre".
