Izaskun Bilbao calls for an immediate European response to the crisis affecting the steel plant in Sestao

Izaskun Bilbao Barandica, vice-president of the ALDE Group in the European Parliament, has called for an immediate community-level response to the crisis affecting the steel plant in Sestao, which is also threatening several other plants in Euskadi-The Basque Country and in other areas throughout Europe.

Following the line taken by Lehendakari Urkullu and the Minister for the Economy and Competitiveness, the MEP has called for anti-dumping measures to protect against Chinese steel imports and an effective unification of the financial and energy markets that help us “to focus on people and their future”, and that “excellence is the key to competitiveness and a decisive European commitment to reindustrialisation”.
