Basque Nationalist councillors will thus be sitting for the 1st time in the following municipalities: Angelu, Donibane Lohitzune, Urruña, Ziburu, Kanbo, Makea, Uharte-Garazi, Donazaharre, Uhartiri, Ezpeize and Arrosa. At this last municipality the mayor and one other councillor come from the party. A spokesman for the Ipar Buru Batzar stated that “these results encourage us to continue our efforts to consolidate in Iparralde”.

“Our elected councillors will maintain a constructive, proactive attitude towards materialising local projects, and will work at all times in favour of their municipalities and in favour of Iparralde as a whole. With these new councillors major new topics can be tackled: Iparralde as a collective territory, the promotion of the Basque language and cross-border relations”.
