Urkullu added that “the Basque National Party is not going to look backwards. Because Patxi López’s government has, thankfully, now begun to be a thing of the past. The Basque National Party is going to look forwards. That is what Basque society wants. Society is calling for a new Government. A Government that governs. A Government that focuses on overcome the current economic turmoil. A Government with discipline and rigour in public management”
“A Government with a project for the Basque Country. That does not spend over its possibilities. A Government that guarantees the basic public services. Not only by words, but also by facts, by decisions. A Government that stimulates the economic activity. A Government that overlooks the differences in its search for political cooperation and agreement among the institutions. Not only by words, but also by facts, by decisions. We urgently need a Government that believes in this Country. That believes in the Basque Country. A Government that is a driving force. That generates confidence again. A capable Government. That is flexible. That knows how to be frugal yet efficient when taking decisions. A Government with a project, a programme and a model for the Basque Country. The model of the Basque National Party is the one that has been behind of the setting up of the welfare state in the Basque Country during its thirty years in power," stressed the nationalist leader.
