Juan José Ibarretxe to preside over the Centro Lehendakari Agirre in the USA

Juan José Ibarretxe has attended the opening in the USA of a study centre named after Agirre, the first Basque president, the Centro Lehendakari Agirre. Its mission will be to supervise research into political issues in the Basque Country.

This centre, which will have offices at Colombia University in New York and at the George Mason University in Washington, DC, as well as in the Basque Country, will be headed by the former Basque first minister, or Lehendakari, Juan José Ibarretxe.

The centre’s work will focus on matters related to economic policy in the Basque Country, sustainable development, the resolution of conflicts and self-government.
