Urkullu highlights the "importance of the Glencree Initiative"
The chairman of the Basque National Party’s Central Committee (EBB), Iñigo Urkullu, has indicated that the Manifesto for Peaceful Coexistence, which has published the names of the victims of ETA, GAL, police brutality and the Batallón Vasco Español, is "a highly significant event".
"Coexistence is possible and there is a need to recognise the harm caused, as well for those responsible to accept their responsibility", wrote Urkullu on his blog. He then went on to write that "he acknowledges the need to continue with this critical and self-critical re-appraisal of the past".
The "Glencree Initiative” has been pursued over the past four and a half years by the victims of violence from both sides of the political spectrum, and they now want to use their experience to make "a positive contribution in favour of peaceful coexistence".
