The Basque Country presents itself as the second EU organisation in clean technologies
Gastronomy is a very Basque activity. The attendance of the chef of the restaurant Nerua, in the Guggenheim Museum, with one Michelin star, Josean Alija, aroused interest in Munich, Germany. At 11 in the morning he started to explain the eco innovation criteria he uses in his kitchen and then handed out pintxos. The perfect bait to draw the attention of a hundred investors and companies in the so-called eco industrial sector attending the European Cleantech Forum Europa in a city centre hotel.
The conference in Munich was an elitist and global meeting of international managers and investors to discuss the clean technology leading trends in fields such as waste water, renewable energy, sustainable cars, recycling, eco building design and many others and, if they are convinced, to invest in these business projects. Of the 400 attendees, half were selling ideas and the other half had the money to buy them.
The Basque Country showed its strength in this sector with the presence of Gamesa, Iberdrola, Sener, Automotive Intelligence Centre (AIC) and Mondragon Corporación, as well as with representatives of CIE, Ormazabal, Kutxabank, BBVA, Idom, CAF and Deloitte, technology parks and dozens of small and medium enterprises seeking to open markets or obtain financing for development.
