The Mercedes factory in Gasteiz sells the first electric vans

The Mercedes factory in Gasteiz will be the only company to produce these electric vans.

The new Vito E-Cell, 91 units of which have already been produced and sold to Eroski, DHL and companies from other states including France and Germany and with a further 474 units planned to come off the production line this year, has a range of 130 kilometres on a single charge and has a speed of up to 80 kilometres per hour.

It is mainly designed for deliveries in cities, can be charged from the socket in any garage and from the "electric stations" network, such as the one to be set up in the Basque Country.  Its charging time ranges between 40 minutes from an industrial socket to 80% of its capacity and 6 hours for a full slow charge.

According to the information provided, its load capacity is 900 kilos, it is very quiet and there are no toxic emissions as it is driven by a lithium ion electric battery.
