The Chairman of Euskaltzaindia, Andrés Urrutia, reflected on the double role of Euskaltzaindia as the "Academy that along with establishing linguistic standards also seeks to promote the Basque Language".

Urrutia wanted to highlight the modern face of the oldest language of Europe, “a vision not conditioned by political ideology or electoral interests, but rather by portraying the Basque Language as a means of social cohesion within and outside the Basque Country, not as something that is used against others, but rather as something that is used with others, with all other people".
