Two major, cutting-edge Basque companies which are worldwide role models for success in globalisation: CAF and Iberdrola
The Basque companies Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF) and Iberdrola placed themselves on the cutting edge in 2011 as role models for worldwide success.
Iberdrola and the Norwegian companyHammerfestcompleted the installation of an innovative system for generating power from marine currents on the Orkney Islands offScotland. This state-of-the-art structure is similar to a land-based wind turbine but is moved by the movement of the water. It is to serve as the basis for the construction of the first marine current energy plant, and will enable Iberdrola to take another step forward in its move towards renewables, and marine energy in particular.
For its part CAF continues to lead the international field in the design, manufacture, maintenance and supply of equipment and components for railway systems.
