Urkullu: “Izan garelako, izango gara”

During the Alderdi Eguna, the packed annual celebration of the Basque National Party, the EAJ-BNP EBB chairman, Iñigo Urkullu, stressed that “we are in a new era. We are coming to the end of the cycle of violence in the Basque Country. We do not accept accounts or calculations. Society is demanding peace for peace sakes. And nothing else”.

The Basque national leader stressed that “we are concerned that we are also facing a step backwards in the State. The Spanish PSOE-PP bipartite is moving back to centralism, the imposition of the uniform leveller of the one and onlySpain. We are moving... forward! We have a model to convert this new era into opportunity.  A new era and a new political status for the Basque Country. A leap forward as a Nation.”

Urkullu spoke of the EAJ-BNP General Assembly and stressed that its “Basque Country, European Nation” proposal would set the following challenges for the party as a country: getting out of the crisis, achieving more self-government and making progress in the construction of the Nation.
