According to Urkullu, "this Batzoki is opening up a new way to work with society as a whole. This new centre will work with the society of Iparralde (French Basque Country) to consolidate Iparralde and the Basque Country, to foster our language, our culture and our people. That is our main aim, to find a new way to work with society.  This Batzoki seeks to be a far-reaching and open place where Iparralde and the Basque Country can work together".

The Basque National leader also stressed that "the current priority is to achieve territorial collectivity. This is our short-term goal and what we have to do to consolidate our people. This is the step that we are taking today to continue to slowly but surely strengthen the chain of the Basque Country".

"Our target and our aspiration is to be found here, only here. Our only goal and aspiration is Iparralde, to defend the interests of Iparralde. The person who has gone along the route is the one who knows it.  The fact that we have already gone along this route in Hegoalde (part of the Basque Country south of the Pyrenees) will help us to continue to make progress in the case of Iparralde.  We are today meeting in this Batzoki for a break along this route before we continue with renewed strength," he added.  

The leader of the Basque National Party ended by stressing that "we are facing a new era for our country". We have to work for this era to come closer.  We have it within arm's reach. It is the route of politics, which has been our only route for the last century. Now, those that remained in the loop of violence, are moving towards the political approach. If they join us, they will be welcome. That is what our people needs. This political era is going to give us a new opportunity to join Iparralde with Hegoalde, and we have to find the way to consolidate and turn this opportunity into reality. That is our challenge and our responsibility today. We are therefore opening this new Batzoki today, to unite, strengthen and deploy our single country both in Iparralde and in Hegoalde".
