Experts sit down at the round table ´Peace in positive: a reachable target´ organised by the Sabino Arana Foundation
The Sabino Arana Fundazioa, within the framework of its Debate and Reflection Platform, has organised a round table which, entitled "Peace in positive: a reachable target".
The Sabino Arana Fundazioa organised this encounter as the first step of a medium-term project to encourage and motivate the people of the Basque Country in their commitment to the defence of human rights and rejection of violence. The challenge proposed is to embrace a gradual process of positive transformation of the pain caused by terrorism, and a collective effort for peaceful coexistence and reconciliation.
The personal and social experiences and positions of two affected communities: groups from Israel-Palestine and from Ireland, two touchstones in the transformation of the pain generated by violence in a collective commitment to peace and coexistence, be presented.
The guest speakers were Jo Berry, president of Building Bridges for Peace and International Red Cross for Peace; Pat Magee, promoter of the peace process in Northern Ireland; Aaron Barnea, head of International Relations of the Parents Circle-Families Forum; and Ali Abu Awwad, spokesperson of the Parents Circle-Families Forum.
