In the context of the deep-rooted, reciprocal solidarity between the Basque Country and Chile that has long characterised relations between our two countries, we shall mobilise all the political mechanisms within our reach to ensure that the necessary aid reaches the families and places affected as soon as possible.

We are convinced that once all the personal dramas caused by this terrible tragedy have passed, and once the major damage to basic infrastructure has been repaired, Chile will recover all its vitality and will continue to set an example to its neighbours.
